What is V-type engine?

V-type engine, all cylinders divided into two groups, the adjacent cylinders put together at a certain angle, so that the two cylinder groups are formed at an angle to the plane, viewed from the side of the cylinder, V-shaped, so called V-type engine. It is easy to increase the displacement and power by expanding the diameter of the cylinder and adapted to the higher number of cylinders.

1.V engine principle

The all cylinders divided into two groups, the adjacent cylinders are arranged together at a certain angle, so that the two cylinder groups are formed at an angle to the two plane, viewed from the side of the cylinder, V-shaped, so called V-type engine. If the shortened length of the engine, can leave more room for driving cabin, thereby improving comfort. The cylinder is then divided into two rows of “obliquely hit”, can reduce the height and length of the engine, so that the body meet the design requirements. Since the offset is arranged between each cylinder has, therefore there is a large space between the cylinders, it is easy to increase the displacement and power by expanding the diameter of the cylinder. Cylinder V-type engine are disposed at an angle to, a part of the vibration may be offset.

2. V-type engine disadvantages

· advantages of small height and length dimensions, it is arranged on the vehicle more convenient. Lower height may be reduced hood height, to reduce wind resistance. Shorter length may cabin occupants leaving more space. It has been arranged between the cylinder offset from one another, which facilitates displacement, and to increase the power by enlarging the diameter of the cylinder and adapted to a higher number of cylinders.

Use drawback two cylinder heads, complex structure and high manufacturing cost. Engine larger width, on both sides of the space becomes smaller, easy to arrange other auxiliary devices.
