Recently, bought a car network Buycar learned that Ford Motors and SK INNOVATION announced that both parties have signed a joint venture memo, intend to build a “Blueovalsk” joint venture in the United States and produce cells and battery packs locally. The BlueovAlsk plans to achieve mass production around 2025, producing a total of 60 GWH batteries and battery packs per year, and has the possibility of production capacity expansion.
The establishment of Blueovalsk has also presented the implementation of the relevant factors of the final agreement between the two sides, the approval of the regulatory agency. The next-generation battery and battery pack planned by the joint venture company will be applied to a variety of pure electric vehicles in future Ford.
According to the plan, by 2030, Ford’s battery demand will reach 240 gWh, in the world’s battery year demand for Ford Echo electric vehicles in North America. It will reach 140 GWH, and the rest of the rest is mainly from the pure electric models used in Europe and the Chinese market. 
SK Innovation is a global energy group located in Seoul, South Korea.
