SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) sequential manual gearbox is a BMW and two top parts company GERTAG and SACHS (ZF) co-developed a new concept transmission system, originally started in 1996 and equipment on the BMW M3 sports car. The system has been developed to the third generation of products, loaded on the latest M5 and M6 models. Difference is, SMGⅢ (third generation) added Drivelogic system can be adjusted to suit the driver’s shifting style personalized driving habits. Drivelogic by controlling the switch, the driver can choose their own style of the shift between five and six manual automatic shifting programs. With the help of powerful electronic systems, even an ordinary driver can also have a professional racer driving skills.
