What is the one-way clutch?

one-way clutch, commonly known as one-way bearing, mechanical transmission base member is only a single direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) transmission. The one-way clutch element can only function is to make a certain direction of rotation, the lock in the other direction. When the power source driving the passive element only in a single direction transmission, when the power source to change direction, such as clockwise turns counterclockwise, the passive element is automatically generated without departing from the functionality of any transmitted power.

One way clutch type

can be divided into the one-way roller clutch type one-way clutch and a one-way sprag clutch two types. In general, the former is more common to use a number. Of course, in the automatic transmission, a one-way clutch mechanism is also not limited to performing, for example, the guide wheel support at the torque converter, also used one-way clutch.

3-way clutch effect

(1) Registration clutch: converting linear reciprocating motion into a stepping motion of the circumference of the rotary shaft, the one-way clutch is what we called indexing function.

(2) Clutch backstop: one-way clutch for material handling equipment (e.g. belt conveyors, bucket elevators and the like), to prevent the device backwards or inverted in the absence of the power source. A one-way check what we called one-way clutch function.

(3) Clutch: When the power output portion of the one-way clutch (inner or outer) power source speed ratio (inner or outer) faster, the clutch is in a free state, the inner and outer ring is not any one-way function linked relationship, what we called a one-way clutch.
