What is AMI?

AMI AlternativeMarkInversion– alternate mark inversion. A digital transmission technique commonly used in coding, a logic 0 is represented by a null level and a logic 1 is inverted by alternately It represents positive and negative voltage.

English name is AlternateMarkInversion, AMI bipolar code, means “signal is alternately inverted”, i.e., 0 represents a zero level, and that the level in a positive and a negative electrode alternately between inverted. Bipolar code is a ternary code, a reverse rotation, in order to maintain a zero level 0. The signal is zero, may also be divided into RZ and NRZ, RZ middle symbol signal a return to zero level, rather than the zero level code in case of a rollover, 0:00 unchanged. As a bipolar coding scheme NRZ “1” and the code “0” has a current code, but “1” is a positive current code “0” symbols is a negative current, positive and negative amplitudes are equal, it is called bipolar code. At this time, the zero-level decision threshold, receiving end the decision or zero decision is negative, the value of the received signal level is above zero if positive, was judged as “1” code; if the zero level is less negative sentenced to “0” code.

alternate mark inversion . An old-fashioned but the line is still used in coding techniques commonly used T-1 transmission system. Described AMI signal generated by alternately inverting the positive and negative pulses. In other words, with alternating pulse polarities described binary signal, each pulse has the same amplitude or signal strength. Represented by a binary zero pulse null (i.e. zero voltage). This technique of forming the DC voltage can be prevented. Since the T-1 circuit transponder pulse requires conversion rules (i.e., positive and negative voltages) to recover and regenerate the timing circuit, a long string of 0s appear to be avoided. As a general rule, more than 15 consecutive order absent 0Column is sent but no signal density rule violation. T-1 circuit, when used in the latest line coding technique B8ZS (binary 80 alternative method) 0 appears in 8 consecutive transmission of the signals, replaces eight 0 using an alternating bipolar pulses. B8ZS supports 64kbps clear channel transport channel.
