What is Camshaft?

the cam shaft is a cylindrical rod, a plurality of the above cast cam for driving a valve. One end of the camshaft bearing support and the other end is connected to the drive wheels.

a cam shaft effect

is a part of a camshaft of the engine valve mechanism, responsible for driving the valve opening and closing time, timed to ensure that the engine cylinder intake fresh combustible mixture in the work, and promptly exhaust gases after combustion cylinder.

2. Camshaft type

Current automotive engines generally use overhead camshaft, according to the number of overhead camshaft, into single overhead camshaft and double overhead camshaft.
mixing the intake valve and exhaust valve arranged on a cam shaft, i.e., single overhead camshaft (SOHC).
intake and exhaust valves in the breakdown of two camshafts, i.e., double overhead camshaft (DOHC).

3. Camshaft disadvantages

All single overhead camshaft valve driven by a camshaft through jack, but the inlet valve in the different location, it is not to maintain the accuracy of the action, the effect is slightly less.
while the DOHC can get better performance, but with a need multiple camshafts.
DOHC manufacturing process complex and costly; single overhead camshaft simple structure, good durability, may be adapted to power a typical customer’s requirements, it may be adapted to the requirements of its economy.
