What is intake and exhaust manifolds?

For different generators, the definition of the manifold is not the same. First talk carburetor or throttle body fuel injection type engine, the intake manifold herein refers to a carburetor or throttle body after intake line to the cylinder before the inlet cover. Its function is to air and fuel mixture from the carburetor or throttle body assigned to the respective cylinder inlet. Airway diesel or fuel injection engine, the intake manifold is only assigned to the clean air intake port of each cylinder. The intake manifold must be as uniform distribution of air, clean air or the fuel mixture to each cylinder, for the length of the intake manifold gas flow path should be as equal as possible. Intake manifold inner wall is smooth, so that the gas flow resistance can be reduced, increase the intake capacity.

2. The exhaust manifold

It is the exhaust gas of each cylinder leaders together with the exhaust manifold and the engine block and is connected with a conduit differences. It is mainly used to reduce exhaust resistance, to avoid mutual interference between the cylinders.

over-concentration of the exhaust gas, will interfere with each other between the cylinders, so that the exhaust gas resistance increases, thereby reducing the output power of the engine. The solution is to make the exhaust gas of each cylinder apart to each branch of a cylinder, or a two-cylinder branch.

Some car will be used to reduce exhaust resistance stainless steel tube manufacturing an exhaust manifold, which may be better.
